GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users: FALL WEATHER Fall will be here this Sunday. And with Fall comes frontal weather patterns. That means strong southerly winds ahead of the front and then strong northerly winds with large waves behind the front. It also means shredded sails and broken dock lines. This last front that came through last Tuesday did just that; shredded sails and broke dock lines. Fall is coming in with a bang this year. We will have strong winds tomorrow. Please make sure your sails are furled tightly. Make sure sail covers are secured. And certainly make sure that your dock lines are in good shape. BRINE SHRIMP SEASON Brine shrimp season starts a week from Tuesday. We will be talking with the shrimpers on Monday during their annual safety meeting. We will remind them to be cognizant of the sailors and buoys. Please remember that they are trying to harvest egg slicks. This is not so easy. Please keep 300 yards away from any harvesting efforts so as not to disturb or destroy a slick they may be working. DUCK HUNT SEASON Duck hunt season starts in just two short weeks. Most of you are aware of the tragedy last November during the duck hunt season when two hunters drowned. Just after that incident we almost lost three other boats and several hunters who got trapped in a storm. If you see hunters about to go out on a day that is about to turn fowl, maybe you could try to friendly educate them just how dangerous this lake can get. LAKE LEVEL Today we are at 4194.6' feet of lake level. This is not good at all. But it has been worse. The good news is that we are almost done dropping for the year. We should only drop 3/10ths to 4/10ths of a foot more before bottoming out around October 25th. The bad news is that all the reservoirs are very low. We need a very good winter to see a net rise in the lake for next year. Pray for snow! CRANE DAY Crane Day is fast approaching. For those of you that will be craning out we will have a mast drop party at noon on Sunday, the 27th of October. We will be serving chili that day. Bring something to go along with Chili. Crane Day will be Friday, November 1st at 9am SHARP. Please reserve your spot now.
