Draft State Water Strategy Plan Open for Public Comment
Woo-hoo! The overwhelming amount of public pressure on the water advisory team worked (thanks to those who showed up at the meeting, as well as the reporters who brought light to the situation). Below is a link where you can read the proposed plan, as well as the opportunity to make public comments. This is your chance to speak up about how you feel about the importance of the Great Salt Lake, the need for protection of the lake for ecological and air quality reasons, how you feel about diverting water from the GSL for the Bear River Project, the Lake Powell Pipeline – and if you are willing to explore alternative means of conserving water BEFORE destroying our lake and rivers. Please read below! Janet Robins Commodre, GSLYC Ahoy Mates! Pardon my cut and pasting but in the interest of time I want to get this out as quickly as possible. Please take advantage of this opportunity to offer your important input in this evolving draft of the State Water Strategy Plan. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. Lynn The co-chairs of the Water Advisory Team have decided to open up the process and invite public comment on the draft of the Water Strategy Plan. This is great news since there is such great interest and think people would welcome the opportunity to be able to review the draft in its early iteration instead as things become more and more solidified. As such, here is the link to the PDF of the plan and I’m hoping that you will help spread the word with your cohort at the marina and beyond so they can be included. Deadline for comment is Monday, October 24th. It’s important to stay as close to the draft of the plan as possible and raise specific issues with specific statements of fact that you see or don’t see in the plan. You’ll notice that there isn’t much about GSL included so this is something that is definitely absent and needs to be a part of the strategic picture. Envision Utah put the report online and is inviting public comments: http://envisionutah.org/projects/utah-water-strategy Please let me know if you have any questions. And thanks for your help in distributing this to as many people as possible. In saline and September, Lynn Lynn de Freitas Executive Director FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake 150 S. 600 E.
