GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users Last night's storm brought significant wind and especially waves to the Great Salt Lake. The waves have taken a toll on the Deep Channel Buoys. Three were taken out. And two more have shifted significantly. The buoys that are now missing are G1, G7 and R12 (the buoy at the mouth of the marina) The Buoys that are known to have shifted are R6 and G11 (the green buoy at the mouth of the marina). With the forecast for storms over the next few days, it will take us the better portion of this week to retrieve and reset these buoys. Use the deep channel AT YOUR OWN RISK. It can still be navigated but attentiveness and caution should be practiced to their full effect. Rest assured, that when conditions allow for it, we will get these buoys back in place. I have heard from the Trestlewood people today. The waves were so significant at the Promontory marina that it sunk their 165' barge (the barge that did our dredging two years ago). They were able to pump it out and refloat it today. The effect of the storm on this marina was mostly due to waves. We can only find one boat that was damaged due to wind. It is in J-23 and is a Santana 23. All other boats seem to be fine. But we also lost power for most of last night and a good portion of today. If you have electrical systems on your boat you may want to check them out. Of course I'm sure there are no unattended heaters on any of these boats.
