Crane Day is just around the corner - only six days away. Yes, the recent rain has helped our situation out slightly. But it would have to continue to rain like it did a few weeks ago for the next four months to have a significant impact on our lake levels. But we will take it. I am finalizing the crane out list. If you have not gotten on the list today is the day to get on. I will be assigning crane out order numbers today. That order will be based on what makes the most sense to keep crane time at a minimum so that everyone's costs are as low as possible. If you have cradles, trailers or stands, please bring them out early if possible so we can stage them. If you bring them out on crane day please plan on being at least two hours early of your estimated crane out time. If you do not have your masts down yet please get them down BEFORE crane day. If your motor does not work and you will need to be towed to the crane out slip please let me know today so I can put you on the list to be towed. I have finally heard that DFCM is working on the dredging issue for Great Salt Lake. I do not know how far along they are but I have not seen or heard from any engineers yet. So here is a recap of the dredging process. 1. DFCM must put out a bid for an engineering company to oversee the dredging design. 2. Contract must be awarded to the successful company bidding on dredging design. 3. Dredging design must be completed 4. Permits must be filed with Army Corp. And then permits must be approved. 5. Bid is put out for dredging companies 6. Contract is awarded to successful dredging company 7. Dredging company mobilizes on-site 8. Dredging begins 9. Dredging completed and we evaluate how successful the process was I have talked to a few dredging companies and they are confident they can significantly deepen the marina and dig a deep channel out to the lake. And remember that the lake is still over 20 feet deep. But the engineers will determine how much material we can take out and keep the breakwall and docks stable. We are nearing a time when I feel more information will be forthcoming. I will keep you posted as I hear it. For those pulling out on May 28th I feel fairly confident we will have room for those that absolutely must store their boats at the marina. But, unfortunately, I do not know if we will have much more room for any other boats that may need to pull on a later date. And remember that we may have to pull ALL the boats depending on what conclusions the engineers and dredging company comes up with. Let us hope for the best.
