HERE COMES THE BUMP!!
The lake is about to have a radical rise in lake level similar to May 2005.
Beginning mid week of next the lake will begin a rapid rise. This rise, or bump, will likely bring the lake up 1 to 1.4 feet through June followed by a much more shallow rise through mid July. The fact that we will still rise into July is just barely short of a miracle.
I am quite confident that we will top off between 4198.6 and 4199. If I am wrong I guarantee I will be happy to eat my words because it will mean we top off higher than that prediction. What a whacky year!
Normally we rise 2 feet from spring runoff and we drop 2 feet from summer evaporation. Today we hit a milestone of a FOUR FEET RISE since our low of 4193.6 last November. And we will have so much water coming into the lake all summer that we will likely only drop 1 foot from evaporation for a net gain this year of four plus feet.
Our sister park to the south (Utah Lake State Park) is flooding. They can’t get the water out of that lake fast enough. They have had to close off sections of the park and cancel events due to the flooding. Our sister park to the north (Antelope Island State Park) has, for the first time in several years, a viable marina. (stay tuned for an email about instructions on approaching that marina – there are still some shallow issues at this time).
The Reef Channel path is now viable for all boats (except for a negative storm surge). The Deep Channel Path has been reconfigured. An email will be sent out shortly about the configuration of both paths.
WOW! IT’s ALL ABOUT THE SUNSPOTS!!
