I’ve been thinking now for three days on how to word this email and haven’t figured out a good way yet. So I am just going to say it. I have written this email in the past but haven’t needed to write it since all the boats have been in the parking lot.
We have had our boats out of the water for the last two to three years. Now, thanks to the good winter, we have been able to put the boats back in the water. This is a great thing! Yet it makes for very close neighbors once again.
I have fielded several complaints over this last weekend about gates to the docks being propped open. I know many prefer not having to carry or fish out their dock key every single time they go to and from the dock. But many of your dock neighbors DO mind. They pay for and expect a locked private dock. An unlocked dock invites the tourists and photographers down on the dock. It invites them to climb on your neighbor’s boats. We have tourists from other countries visiting the Great Salt Lake. Some come from cultures that do not understand American culture and our concept of private space.
PLEASE! Carry your keys. Keep the docks locked at all times. If we find gates propped open with objects the marina staff has been instructed to throw that object away and to close and secure the dock. So carrying your key will be advisable.
Thanks
Dave
