It has come to my attention that Union Pacific will be breaching the railroad causeway late this September. This will have an impact on the lake level in the south basin where the Great Salt Lake Marina is located. I do not know how much of an impact this will have as of yet. I have been trying to get a better understanding of the impact over the last two weeks and hope to have some solid "guesses" next week. Right now there is 3.6' difference between the north half of the lake and the south half of the lake with the south half being higher. That means we will drop in lake elevation when the breach occurs. How much is unknown. Because of that some of us are choosing to pull back out on Monday, July 18th when the 36' motor boat drops into the lake.
