IT LOOKS LIKE WE WILL NEED TO PULL ALL BOATS THIS LATE SPRING/EARLY SUMMER

As you all know by now, the winter was a disaster for Great Salt Lake water levels.  We are going to see a new historic low and will match last fall’s historic low sometime early to mid-June, possibly even earlier if we turn hot early.

One of the factors that is going to really hurt us is the very low levels in our mountain reservoirs that feed Great Salt Lake.  Pineview is 31% full; Deer Creek is 84% with Jordanelle being at 49%.  There is even some concern for the deeper draft boats at the Bear Lake Marina this year.

We are almost done coming up this year as far as lake levels.

So, unfortunately, if you have a boat in the water at Great Salt Lake Marina, it WILL HAVE TO COME OUT by early June.  There just is no choice.  We cannot have boats sitting in the mud in the marina.  The risk to the docks is too great.

I am sorry for this terrible news but it is just a reality.

The legislature has set aside money for fixing the railroad breach and dredging part of the marina.  But I don’t see that actually happening this year.  It is going to take some time to work through all the logistics and Fed/State rules.
