Forecast
It is too hard to predict whether the lake will
have a net positive flow for 2008 yet. That will be much easier to predict
at the end of March. Yet there are some good indicators that it will be a
good year.
- Stream flows into Great Salt Lake are running at
90 to 129% of normal.
- We are forecasted to be in an "Unusual Moist
Spell" for the Bear River Drainage and in a "Very Most Spell" for the
Weber-Ogden and Provo River Drainage for the next three months.
- Soil Mosture Content is "Above Normal"
- Although most of the GSL Drainange area is still
listed as in a severe drought we are forecasted to see improvement over the
next three months.
All this points to a very good spring for the Great
Salt Lake. It also indicates that, unlike four years ago, most of the
precipitation should flow to the lake rather than being absorbed into the
ground.
Other Updates
We are still working hard on the dredging
situation. Right now everything looks good for dredging this spring.
BUT, I want to emphasize that we could hit a snag at anytime that could postpone
these plans.
The mast hoist has arrived in Utah and has been
painted. We should see it being installed in the next few
weeks.
All codes and locks in the marina have been
changed. If you do not have your 2008 slip contracts in, please get them
in quickly. Parking Pass enforcement has begun.
If you would like to see these weekly updates in
email form, please let me know. If not, also let me know. If enough
of you like this format I will continue to send them out. I am also
working on a new edition of the "Marina News" that will be more in-depth.
This will hopefully be posted on the GSLYC web site.
OH, AND NONE OF THIS EMAIL WAS A JOKE.
