GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users,
First there are a couple updates and notices I would like to make everyone aware of. But if these bore you please read on for upcoming activities and events:
Water Level Dropping Rapidly – Those on B dock should probably talk to me about moving to another dock before they are stuck in their slips
Unfortunately the long term forecast is for a hot and dry summer. This will likely accelerate the lake dropping. Some of the vessels on B dock have already had to relocate. Some of the vessels will not have to relocate this fall but the majority will probably want to make arrangements for another slip assignment on either E, I, or K dock.
Water Leak – We Need To Test the Water
We have an ongoing water leak out here that has been costing the park significant money for the last five years. Our water supplier is bound and determined to finally isolate what section of line the leak is on. This will require us to turn the water off to the marina on Tuesday morning. Please, if you come out here, do not use the restrooms; do not turn any water on to wash your boats. Any water valve being turned on during this test period will completely screw up the test. Luckily the duration of the test will be very short and the water should be back on before noon. Thank you, for your understanding.
Excuse our Construction – Campgrounds
Wow! I am amazed every once-in-awhile when a program has a little money at the end of the year and they decide to throw it our way. We put in primitive camping earlier this summer in the northern parking lot. Right after we put the spots in a program director allocated money for improving the spots. Sometime this week we should have electricity and water to all five spots making them comfortable (and a tad quieter – no generators) for your guests. In the meantime please excuse our construction.
Visitor Center is Just About to Open – Gift Store to Follow Soon Behind
It certainly has taken a long time. But our very ugly duckling of a building in the north parking lot has finally grown up to be a swan. I wouldn’t say she is the prettiest swan in the pond. But for one who lives out at the marina and stares at that building every day, she certainly cleaned up. Anyway the visitor center is slated to open sometime this next week (I certainly hope so). And the gift store portion of the visitor center will open up sometime late July. We are still looking for volunteers that would like to donate some time in the VC or gift store. Please email me if you have any interest.
Eardley Spit Cruise was a Huge Success – We Are Going Back Again
Well did you enjoy the Eardley Spit Cruise? Did you miss this great event? I scouted out some of the other anchorages for beach access and either the water was too high or too low for good beach access on the other anchorages that are reasonably close. So we will go back to the spit for the July Harbor Master Cruise. The two potential dates are Sunday, July 14th or Sunday, July 21st. Please email dshearer@gslmarina.com to select which date works better for you. If you didn’t get to attend the last cruise, please visit Great Salt Lake State Marina on facebook.com to check out the pictures and posts of the last cruise.
