Marina News In-Brief For The Week of March 24th, 2008 Well, The season has definitely started. It was a very busy weekend on the water. Many boaters enjoyed a great weekend. Dredging As noted in earlier emails, dredging is complete. Although, I would like to remind a couple of sailors, who shall remain nameless, that we did not remove the north or west breakwalls. We just widened the mouth. Water to the Docks and Service Dock We are scheduled to turn the water on to the docks and service dock (pump-a-head and porta potty rinse station) the first week of April. This could change if we have another deep freeze. April Slip Fees Remember, April begins summer rates. Below is a list of those rates. 21' slip w/ electrical $126.00 21' slip w/o electrical $105.00 25' slip w/ electrical $150.00 25' slip w/o electrical $125.00 30' slip old (K) dock $150.00 30' slip $180.00 35' slip $210.00 40' slip $240.00 Secured Dry Storage $75.00 Unsecured Dry Storage $25.00 Autopays For those slip renters who are on Autopay, we will be charging the cards on the 6th and 7th this month. This is a day later than normal. Hope this does not create an inconvenience. Weather Forecasts, Weather Warning Flags, Email Updates will not be issued for the first week of April The Harbor Master will not be available from Friday, March 28th through Saturday, April 5th. This means it is unlikely that any weather forecasts will be posted on the bulletin board. It is unlikely that any weather warning flags will be posted during this time. And it is highly improbable that there will be any emails from GSLHarbormaster during this time. That means no storm or damage updates. Buoys on the lake The GSLYC has reset their buoys for the 2008 racing season. These buoys are orange or white and are labeled. Coordinates for these buoys can be found on www.gslyc.org Weather We are still in a Frontal and Zonal Weather Pattern. This means that we will have southerly winds pre-frontal and northerly winds post-frontal. Yet we may see thunderstorms associated with these fronts. These thunderstorms can bring violent localized winds and lightning. Check with local weather sources before venturing on the lake. Current Conditions Lake Level 4196.0 Marina Mouth Depth 6.6' approx (in the shallow spots. Most of the mouth is over 7') Water Temperature 54 degrees Parking Stickers Remember to have your parking stickers displayed either on your dashboard or rear-view mirror. The rangers have been enforcing parking fees. For those with motorcycles, We have not come up with a satisfactory plan yet. If you have a motorcycle, we will not be enforcing the stickers or entrance fee until we can come up with an acceptable and fair plan. We plan to do that very soon though. Mast Hoist Word from the contractor is that the mast hoist should be complete sometime late next week. Damage to the Docks or in the Marina We make an effort to walk the marina every day and walk all the docks at least once a month. Usually we will catch damage, trash or problems that need attention. Yet, sometimes we miss something. If you see something that needs attention, please feel free to email us or contact us at the office. We will make an effort to get right on the problem. Damage or problem areas are likely to be more evident now that spring has arrived.
