Dave, thank you for the message.  Sad news indeed.

I have so many fantastic memories of Daryl.  Sally and I met Daryl, and her husband Corey, racing cats at Deer Creek reservoir sometime in the late 70's or early 80's.  What passion that girl had for the sport!  ...and a riot to share good conversation with back on the beach.  Several years later Corey called me with the news that he and Daryl had purchased the brand new J-27 "Swee' Pea," and would Sally and I like to race with them. Boy did we!  I'm sure Daryl named that boat, and choose the image drawn on the topsides (example attached).  We were the regular crew for a number of years, and Daryl brought her passion and easy ability to laugh to that boat as well.  You may also recall they continued their adventure with their Catalina 25 "...a little behind."   We'll miss you Daryl.  Smooth, and exciting, sailing to you...    Love, Hank and Sally

Subject: [GSL-Marina] SAD NEWS

Sad news.  The Great Salt Lake Marina Community has lost one of their own this week.  Daryl Sheffield died peacefully Monday at the age of 62.  She and her husband, Corey, were regulars at the marina and the Utah sailing circuit since the 1970’s.  Their last boat at the marina was a Catalina 25 named A Little Behind located on I dock.  Our best wishes go out to her husband and three children, Mack, Levi and Judy.
