This has been an incredibly unusual year for lake level. We initially topped out at a lake level of 4194 early February (4.4' at the mouth of the marina). And then we started dropping in elevation early April. Snow pack was at a critically low 42%. We pulled most of the deep draft boats late April while we could still get them to the crane-out slip only to have one of the biggest rain storms we've seen the day after. The lake began to rise again through May. In 17 years of watching the lake level this is something I have never seen before. The lake came up to a level of 4194.4'. Of course we had over 4" of rain in May. But now the ride appears to be over. The lake is now dropping again. Snow pack in the Bear River drainage is ok but the other two main tributaries are down into the single digits as far as a percentage of normal. And the forecast is for hot days. Hotter than normal through the summer. With the pending dredging it is time to think about another Crane Day. As much as I wish it wasn't necessary (I have come to dread crane days) we will need to get the last of the boats with 3.5' drafts or more out while we can. Right now I am thinking of a crane day early July. I will be contacting everyone individually within the next week regarding whether you have trailers, when (or if) you will need to pull, etc. I have not heard anymore whether they will build a coffer dam or we can keep the shallowest draft boats in while they dredge. I will keep you posted. But if you have a draft of 3.5' or more I would make plans to pull your boat soon. Sorry.
