Amazingly, Great Salt Lake has been in a very narrow band of dry air for the last two days. This narrow band of dry aircontinues to track over the lake. It has split the current monsoonal weather system in half pushing part of it north into Idaho and the other part south and east into the Wasatch. In other words, Great Salt Lake has been a pleasant weather island in a mass of monsoonal moisture.

Current charts show that this may be the case for the rest of the evening. Yet, with NWS still having a "Severe Thunderstorm Watch" for the northwest part of Utah, we will continue with the Storm Warning for the Great Salt Lake through the evening.
