Lobbyist's Secret Plan for Bear River Water Grab and Lake Powell Pipeline Exposed!
Thanks to everyone who attended Tuesday’s Water Strategy Advisory Committee in which lobbyists unveiled their secret lobbying plan to fund Lake Powell Pipeline and the Bear River Water Grab. Although the public was not allowed
to comment or see the secret plan, much of it was paid for with public tax dollars. The Utah Rivers Council stepped up and demanded the public be allowed to speak. Instead, the lobbyists turned off the lights and played a video while the public shouted their
concerns about this shady process run by special interests. The charade was captured in this
video by our friends at HEAL Utah.
Council staff stood up and demanded the public be allowed to speak
For two years lobbyists have stifled public input and withheld the truth that inexpensive alternative water sources are being ignored by these special interests
in favor of pushing massive, destructive water projects. Now is the time to make sure our voices are heard!
The Salt Lake Tribune published an excellent
articleof the meeting and an
editorial opinion, which is worth a read.
Come Stand With Us Next Week as We Keep Their Feet in the Fire!
Many of the same lobbyists will meet for Water Development Commission this Tuesday, September 20th at 3:00 PM. The lobbyists on this legislative committee are the very same people who lobbied for the Lake Powell Pipeline
and the Bear River Water Grab. We can no longer allow these lobbyists to conduct their special interest business behind closed doors with no public scrutiny.
Please come to the meeting and lets show our officials we are watching!
Location: State Capitol in the House Building Room 30, lower level Time: Tuesday, September 20th at 3:00PM
Is the Lake Powell Pipeline Affordable? Come listen to the work of a team of economists as they navigate through the smoke and mirrors that is the Lake Powell Pipeline. The University of Utah Economics Department has helped lead the discussion about the economics and
financing of the proposed pipeline and its impacts upon residents slated to receive this water in Southwest Utah. How much more money must we spend before we say enough is enough?
Location: University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law Building, Moot Court Room Time: Wednesday, September 21st at 12:00 PM

During these public meetings, we are constantly reminded of the seemingly endless resources the water lobbyists have at their disposal. We need your support now more than ever.
