GSL Slip Renters,
Yesterday, while I was doing the monthly dock inventory and inspection I noticed several boats without current registration. I wrote last week that the rangers WILL BE WALKING THE DOCKS and issuing CITATIONS sometime this week. This is completely in the purview of law enforcement employees. It has nothing to do with me.
But, in order to avoid slip renters getting citations and possibly having boats seized, I thought I would just go through some simple rules and facts. If your boat is currently registered please disregard the rest of this email. If your vessel is not currently registered here are some items to remember:
1. According to the contract each slip renter signed it is the owners responsibility and requirement to have your boat currently registered. You cannot have a boat in this marina or any other marina without current registration. If your boat is not currently registered with proper stickers displayed you are in violation of the terms of your contract.
2. Rule 73-18-7 (b) states “A person may not place, give permission for placement of, operate, or give permission for the operation of a motorboat or sailboat on the waters of this state, unless the motorboat or sailboat is registered as provided under this chapter.
The above rule does not allow a slip renter to place his boat, nor does it allow us to have a slip renter’s boat in the water unless it is properly registered and stickers properly displayed.
It is not as simple as thinking you can just pay the fine because it might be cheaper than registering your boat. WE CANNOT, by law, ALLOW YOU TO HAVE YOUR BOAT HERE.
PLEASE, PLEASE, get your boat registered and stickers on today.
Thanks
