GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users. The models are holding together for some southerly winds tomorrow afternoon. Saturday will see another round of winds with very heavy winds (possibly Hurricane Force near the marina) by Saturday late afternoon and evening. It also looks like rain and snow will be likely. Long term forecasts for November are showing a series of rain and snow storms through the month. Welcome to the Frontal Season! GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users. As usual, for a weather geek like me, I have been tracking a strong fall storm heading our way for this weekend. For the last two days the models are showing a very good chance of strong winds starting Friday and building substantially on Saturday. Right now the models are showing that we are likely to have the strongest winds of this fall Frontal Season. This is a good time to think about winterizing your boats. Get them prepared for the frontal season that is upon us. CHECK YOUR DOCK LINES - THEY DO ROT OUT OVER TIME. If the current predicted wind strength and wind direction develop we could see gusts well over 70mph in the marina itself. Toto, I don't think we are in Kansas anymore. Pumpkin Patch Social and RC Sailboat Racing

The Great Salt Lake Yacht Club wanted me to remind everyone of their social this Saturday that is open to the whole marina community. This is the annual Pumpkin Patch Social and Trick-or-treating for the kids. We will also be doing RC Sailboat Racing on L dock from 4pm until the social. GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users. Well October is turning out to be a very dry month. That is not good considering the new Water Year begins October 1st. But it looks like November is bringing a much stormier pattern. And not all the news is bad. August and September precipitations and cooler temperatures brought much needed relief. It also brought snowpack. Right now we are at 510% snowpack for the Great Salt Lake Drainage area. And the Bear River drainage, our most important drainage, is at 400% of normal. GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users. As you know, we have a volunteer Search & Rescue team at the Great Salt Lake. One of their functions is to offer outreach training and education to the boating community. On Wednesday, October 22nd at 5:30pm Dave Daniels, a certified CPR/First Aid instructor will be teaching that class. He is opening it up to the marina community. From those that have taken the class I have heard very good things. If you would like to attend this class please RSVP to me. The cost of the class is only $5.00 which covers just the cost of the card. This is a huge bargin. If you would like to brush up on your skills this is a great opportunity. GSL Slip renters and Marina Users On Saturday, October 25th, The Great Salt Lake Yacht Club is holding their annual Pumpkin Patch social at the Marina. They are inviting the whole marina community to this event. The event includes a sloppy joe dinner, costume contest (both kids and adult awards for costumes), and Trick-or-Treating for the kids. The YC knows you may no longer have a boat in the marina to decorate and trick-or-treat from. But they plan to do trick-or-treating for the kids from boats and cars. Attached is a flyer for the event which includes more information. This is one of the great socials of the year. Hope to see you there.
