There's a new Black Company short story, and we missed it.
Cranky Bitch, in the Songs of Valor anthology, March 2021. Takes place just after the escape from Juniper in Shadows Linger.

Could this follow the pattern we saw with Port of Shadows and end up as a chapter in Pitiless Rain? I don't want to get my hopes up, but on the other hand I definitely want to get my hopes up. Glen wrote a bunch of related Black Company stories, over the past 15 or so years. He said somewhere that some of them never got published, because they were written for proposed anthologies that never came to fruition. Mainstream anthologies of heroic fantasy basically dried up. But now, small presses are filling the void by e-publishing new heroic fantasy anthologies, and offering print-on-demand paperbacks. For example, the 4 Horsemen Universe is a popular series of anthologies and novels of military sci-fi, and now they are branching out to do similar e-books and POD paperbacks of heroic fantasy. So my guess is that Glen's agent has found renewed interest for his short stories, and hopefully some more appear in the next couple of years. I remember that being mentioned in one of his anthologies about the market drying up. I hope to see more of these alleged stories. No sense letting potential income rot. Maybe? The Black Company Wiki (https://blackcompany.fandom.com/wiki/Black_Company_Wiki) (NICE RESOURCE!) list it as part of the "On the Long Run" series of short stories. Those could be cobbled together in another novel.
