Nightshade Books is selling off their "assets," as "an alternative to bankruptcy." Whatever that means in legal terms, in effect, they are going under. Their Glen Cook titles may be unavailable soon, so buy the ones you need while you still can! Sure, used copies will be around, but this could be the last chance to buy new ones. And now, we might never get the omnibus of Reap the East Wind, An Ill Fate Marshalling, and A Path to Coldness of Heart. Damn...

That sucks for all the authors. Hopefully another publisher will pick up books and contracts. I've noticed some of Glen's eBooks are published by Tor so these should be available still. As long as the authors signed off in the deal, their books are now being sold under parentage of Skyhorse or Start Publishing. I'm assuming Glen signed off, since kindle versions of his books are currently available. Sent from my iPhone On Jun 8, 2013, at 12:53 PM, Marc Rikmenspoel <marcrik@gmail.com> wrote:

Damn, that sucks. I really appreciated how Nightshade was bringing back books that were hard to find like Glen Cook's. I ordered quite a few from them. Hopefully someone will pick up where they left off. Steve * On Sat 06/08/13 at 12:53, Marc Rikmenspoel (marcrik@gmail.com) wrote:

Yeah, there was a huge blowup about this in April. Night Shade sold their assets and Skyhorse decided to unilaterlly renogiate the contracts to the tune of "Hi, You're Screwed. Shut Up And Get In The Barrel." Some...feedback from the authors of Girl Genius led to better terms for the former Night Shade authors, but not as good a deal as they had with Night Shade. I hope Mr. Cook didn't get screwed too badly. --- On Sat, 6/8/13, Marc Rikmenspoel <marcrik@gmail.com> wrote: From: Marc Rikmenspoel <marcrik@gmail.com> Subject: [Glencook-fans] Nightshade kaput To: "Glen Cook: Science Fiction/Fantasy Author" <glencook-fans@mailman.xmission.com> Date: Saturday, June 8, 2013, 11:53 AM Nightshade Books is selling off their "assets," as "an alternative to bankruptcy." Thanks for letting me know about this. It was the kick in the pants that I needed to get around to order things. I just received my amazon order - wonderful books. Cook is an established author so hopefully he's getting a good rate for his backlist. Even if he's being treated like a new author, just having the backlist in print means that he's seeing money that he otherwise wouldn't see. Richard
Also true. I've got two copies of Passage at Arms and The Dragon Never Sleeps because I've read Them TO DEATH. (Ahem). But hey, I've got ebooks and a kindle. Both're money in a retiree's pocket. Used bookseller at convetions can't be THAT lucractive. ________________________________ From: Richard Chilton <rchilton@auracom.com> To: Glen Cook: Science Fiction/Fantasy Author <glencook-fans@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, June 21, 2013 12:18 PM Subject: Re: [Glencook-fans] Nightshade kaput Thanks for letting me know about this.
