News on the New Dread Empire Novel?
I haven't heard anything in a long time about "A Path to Coldness of Heart," or whatever the resuscitated "Wrath of Kings" is going to be called. Anybody heard anything? It also seems like ages since Glen submitted the third Instrumentalities book . . . . LJ
In recent Nightshade Glen Cook releases (especially the first two Starfishers volumes), they list The Wrath of Kings as "forthcoming" and show it to contain Reap the East Wind, An Ill Fate Marshalling, and The Wrath of Kings. So it is still something they plan to release. I expect the third Instrumentalities book in December or January, since the first one will be reissued in trade paperback in April, and the second one in August. My best guess is that the third and fourth Instrumentalities books will not ever see hardcover release, but are being formatted to sit on readers' shelves next to the Black Company and Dread Empire omnibuses. Thanks, Marc. Can't wait for Wrath of Kings. Or the new Instrumentalities book. Or, for that matter, the two Black Company books Glen is apparently working on. ---- Marc Rikmenspoel <marcrik@gmail.com> wrote:

Glenn is taking the George RR Martin approach to immortality: have your fans praying you live long enough to finish everything. On Apr 3, 2010, at 9:06 AM, Lawrence Jenab wrote:

I lost track of that huge series Martin was writing after the first two books--is it not finished yet? ---- Michael Llaneza <maserati@speakeasy.net> wrote:

He's up to four, there was a huge gap between 3 and 4. I stopped reading at 3 because Really Cool plot elements ended up getting resolved offstage by a character that had been forgotten in favor of showing the whole kingdom going to hell and everyone getting killed. -- Veteran, Bermuda Triangle Expeditionary Force, 1993-1951
