That's some excellent news! :-) Is the small press Night Shade Books? I just bought _Cruel Wind_ an omnibus of the first three Dread Empire books there. http://www.nightshadebooks.com/book.aspx?bookid=141 They also have Sung in Blood.
Yes, Steve, Night Shade is the small press I was referring to; Glen specifically mentioned "Sung in Blood", as that's not otherwise been available, save for hundreds of dollars. I ordered "Cruel Wind" pre-publication from Amazon, thinking it was the next installment of "Instrumentalities of the Night". I was quite disappointed to find it a collection of books I already own. Speaking of Instrumentalties: I asked Glen if there was going to be a map included in the next volume. He said no, it's too much effort, and he adheres to the advice he got from Fritz Leiber: Once you make a map, you've fixed all the ambiguities and tied down your options for the future. But he said it's really just Europe, if you assume the Straits of Gibraltar have been closed, so that the Mediterannean can't get resupplied from the Atlantic: This drops the water level in the Med by some 200 or 300 feet, as it evaporates quicker than rivers supply it. I reread "Tyrany of the Night" in the summer, in anticipation of the second volume's arrival. I still like the plot and characters a lot and hate the tell-don't-show style in which he wrote it. I don't know why he chose that mode, it seem very lazy. Steve/Stacey
