I’ve never met the man, but Cook didn’t look particularly healthy to me in photos a couple years back. The last book of Instrumentalities of the Night seemed like it was thrown to get her in a haphazard rush, as if it was supposed to be a few more volumes, but had to be finished. Thraxas is also a fat P.I. in a universe populated by orcs and other creatures. The author wrote eight books and left everyone hanging. Then he published three more 8 to 11, and once again needs to close the series out but I have not seen anything at all.
