Well, there are the Black Company short stories:
"Bone Candy"—appeared in Shattered Shields edited by Jennifer Brozek and Bryan Thomas Schmidt, published by Baen (2014)
"Bone Eaters"—appeared in Operation Arcana edited by John Joseph Adams, published by Baen (2015)
among others.
Both of these anthologies are available from www.baen.com for purchase. The first takes place between the Battle of Charm and Juniper; it mentions the Port
of Shadows. The second on the retreat from Juniper to the Hole.
Port of Shadows is one of the rumored books. The short stories are recent. Maybe...progress is being made?
Or maybe Mr. Cook is getting what he can published before he shuffles off this mortal coil. Sorry; John Glenn's passing and Buzz Aldrin's health scare have got me a little maudlin today.
It's
quiet out there. Too quiet. I'm starting to wonder
whether we'll see any more new books from Glen at all,
despite the two BC books that he said were well underway
years ago.
Thanks for the correction...was
almost excited...sigh.

Path (2102) is 4 years old; Amazon.us shows 12 copies
remaining in paperback.
Fortress (2007) is an omnibus, collecting The Fire in His
Hands (1984) and With Mercy Toward None (1985).
Wind (2006) is an omnibus, collecting A Shadow of All Night
Falling (1979), October's Baby (1980), and All Darkness
Met (1980).

I was just browsing through
Amazon and I was startled to see recommend to me a new book
by Glen, "A Path to Coldness of Heart"--last of a
4-volume series revisiting the Dread Empire. How the the
heck did I miss roll-out of this, apparently starting 9
years ago with "A Cruel Wind" (then "A
Fortress in Shadow" and "Reap the East
Wind")? (Though I do have the short-story
collection,
"An Empire Unacquainted with Defeat.") I
don't recall ever seeing these in Barnes & Noble.
Are there paperbacks yet?
Any thoughts on
this series?
Stacey
