FOTD -- August 01, 2009 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: For today's fractal I mixed Z^2 with half as much Z^4 and added straight C. This combination creates another parent fractal shaped like a boomerang. Today's image is located on the outer edge of the boomerang, near the point where it is curved. The image rates a 7, mostly because I kind of like the soft pastel coloring. The name "Brontosaurus" has no connection with the image. In fact, I believe the brontosaurus is no longer considered a single species of dinosaur, since so many dinosaurs of the same general type existed. The already brief calculation time of 1-1/2 minutes may be eliminated entirely by viewing the finished image on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> Clouds and rain spoiled Friday here at Fractal Central. The temperature of 75F 24C would have been near perfect if the day had been dry. As it was, the fractal cats had to content them- selves with raindrops on the window. I'm thinking of giving them a screened porch by next summer so they can enjoy the great outdoors without having to be constantly watched. We'll see how it goes. Except for the weather, things went quite well on Friday, with the real work finished by 2pm.
