FOTD -- June 27, 2005 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is a scene in the Zexpe fractal, which is a simple Mandeloid, named by Lee Skinner, with epsilon acting as the exponent of Z. To add a bit of interest I chose the fractal as it exists at ground level of the hyperspiral, and zoomed in on a valley. In these irregular fractals, it is hard to tell at first glance whether a valley is of an 'East' variety, a 'Seahorse' variety, or some other variety. The only way is to actually examine the inner details of the valley. The valley I chose in today's parent fractal proved to be of the 'East' variety, with abandoned bits and pieces of elephants strewn about. I chose today's particular midget because of its unusual 2-4-2-4 symmetry. The name "Ground-Level Zexpe" refers to the location of the parent fractal on the hyperspiral. The rating of a 7 reflects the surprise I felt on seeing such a symmetrical midget in a fractal so far removed from integer value. The render time of 5 minutes is within reason, but reason varies, and for the convenience of those who find a 5-minute wait unreasonable, the image has been or soon will be posted on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> from where it may be conveniently downloaded. Now I must investigate the new triternion formula. The high temperature of 88F 31C was barely acceptable to the fractal cats here at Fractal Central on Sunday. They spent the full afternoon in the holly thicket, but demanded extra tuna when they came inside for the night. Today is starting a bit cooler and with much more clouds, but it is dry. If it stays dry, the duo should have a good day. My day will turn good when the work is behind me and the fractal for tomorrow is in the bag. Until the next FOTD appears in 24 hours, take care, and great things lie just beneath the surface, but where is the surface?
