FOTD 21-07-07 (Intricate Billows [7])
FOTD -- July 21, 2007 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: The formula behind today's image combines 4 negative parts of Z^(-1.3) with 0.6 negative part of Z^(-6.6) before adding (1/C). This combination produces a parent fractal that consists of four large north-south oriented bays, a prominent fan, and filaments that terminate in rings. Today's image was rendered with the default 'equal iteration bands' in effect. The only special effect is a color palette with very narrow bands. The scene is located in a valley of a double Mandeloid lying near the east edge of the fan. I named the image "Intricate Billows" because I couldn't think of any- thing better. The rating of a 7 shows that I am pleased with the results of the day's efforts. The calculation time of just over 3 minutes on a P2000 shows that the image is a relatively fast one.
