FOTD -- November 15, 2006 (No Rating) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's brief diversion takes us to the fractal that results when Z^5.9 is subtracted from Z^3.1 before C is added. This parent fractal is a distorted but quite recognizable Mandeloid rotated 180 degrees, with East Valley, which is now on the west side of the main bay, broadened into a wedge. Today's scene is located in a disconnected but intricate bit of chaos near the north edge of the wedge blade. I gave the image no rating, though it really is good enough to deserve one. I named the picture "Into the Abyss". "Which abyss?" one might ask. Why the bottomless fractal abyss of course. After all, the parent fractal is half-infinite. Like heaven, which has a beginning but no end, the parent fractal has a limit in only one direction. It has a top but no bottom. Clouds and drizzle hung tough over Fractal Central on Tuesday. The local fractal cats finally grew tired of the new arrangement of bookshelves, and spent most of the day just sitting on their shelf by the window, waiting for something interesting to happen outside. Not much ever did. They did not grow totally enthusi- astic until the time for their evening treats arrived. My department was moderately busy. Everything that needed to be done was done.
