FOTD -- July 22, 2007 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's FOTD is again late. The reason is that I took the day off. But no harm has been done. Today's parameters will correctly produce today's image long after our sun has become a burned out dwarf and our planet has become a frozen dead cinder. The formula -1.2*(Z^(1.5))+0.8*(Z^(3.5))+C created the image. Its parent fractal resembles nothing as much as some fantastic stringed instrument lying on its side, with today's scene being located in the outermost of the two western valleys leading to the north bud. I named today's fractal effort "Feathers a Flying". I have no logical reason for the name other than to state that the image of a soaring hawk came to mind as I studied the picture. The rating of a 6 indicates only a modicum of satisfaction with the result. The calculation time of just under 4-1/2 minutes is fast enough to keep boredom at bay. Absolutely perfect (25C) weather prevailed again here at Fractal Central on Saturday. The fractal cats agreed, and spent the day sleeping, while fractal lady and I spent most of the day in Bald Eagle Forest, hoping to see some wild life. The only wild life we saw was an ATV in the distance. The non-fractal work was non-existent. Hopefully, this will change by Monday. The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.
