FOTD -- October 08, 2007 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: To create today's fractal I mixed 0.000001 part of Z^(-15) with Z^(2), then added (1/C) rather than straight C. The result was another interesting parent fractal with more nooks and crannies than could be explored in a hundred lifetimes. Having only one lifetime, at least under my present name, I will have time to explore only an infinitesimal part of this parent before moving on. Today's image is my go at this particular fractal. This parent is mostly a network of criss-crossing filaments with a few small minibrots scattered about. This filament network shows up quite well with today's color palette when the logmap is turned off and the magnitude set to 0.15. The first thing I checked in the parent fractal was a tiny little blip along the negative X-axis, where, after a rather frustrating search, I found the scene of today's minibrot action. I named the image "Zits" because of its pimply appearance, and also because the word is one of my favorite scrabble words, though all too often the enemy adds a letter 'i' and makes the word 'ziti', to which I then add an 's' and make the word 'zitis'. The rating of a 7 honestly describes how I feel about the image. It's a little better than average, though far from outstanding. And the very brief calculation time of 43 seconds will evoke the impatience of no one. The fractal cats were more con- cerned with the pigeons on the sidewalk than with the weather. I took advantage of the Sunday perfection by doing nothing.
