Re: [Fractint] Fractal tapes for Alzheimers victims
Back in the 80's, after messing with 16 color fractal shareware for a little, I got a couple of videos from ArtMatrix...a fractal art store that was providing tapes from the Cornell National Supercomputing lab of fractal zooms and animations. I think they had gotten volunteered music for the soundtrack and it was mostly quite nice, interesting and sometimes very soothing to listen to/watch. I'm not sure if the tape listed as "mandelbrot and julia sets" on their web site (www.artmatrix.com) is the same tape with a new cover or a new tape...since it includes the classic "nothing but zooms" half hour segment it may be the same one. And it is only two hours long and i think you mentioned wanting a longer tape. I think your idea of this type of stimulation is at least worth looking into...there must be other videos around. Making your own 6-hour one would be an enormous project. I wonder what the response would be to a request for volunteered fractal animations to edit together....with a minimum length so it's not just a lot of short flashes. hmm it would take a ton of rendering time, though. Well, good luck with your idea, maybe just starting with a two-hour video to see if it holds attention amongst the patients would be a good test. hope this is helpful:) ~renrad
