FOTD -- September 25, 2003 (Rating 4) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is a scene in the fractal that results when 0.6 part of Z^(-1.212) is subtracted from 0.6 part of Z^(2.2) and (1/C) is added. As are many fractals created by this type of formula, today's parent fractal consists of a distorted, over- sized Mandeloid. The scene is located rather deep in a broken spiral in what passes for an East Valley of the parent. I rendered the scene with the outside set to 'fmod' and the proximity set to 1.1. This departure from my usually purist outside=iter rendering came about because the 'iter' option draws a rather boring image. While searching today's fractal for a name, I was reminded of the 'eyes' in a peacock's tail, and named the image "Peacock- Tail Eyes". Unfortunately, I could find nothing that could raise the rating beyond a humble 4. The render time of just over 9 minutes results in an overall value of 44.
