As announced I will be on a trip for some time, end open. If I return to the forum depends on what I will find - no internet or email for me till then. All dropbox links will be deleted by tomorrow. Albrecht

Ummm, why not just leave them there? You don't have to be around for Dropbox to serve them -- David W. Jones gnome@hawaii.rr.com authenticity, honesty, community http://dancingtreefrog.com

I´m aware of that, but like I said, Dropbox has changed their attitude lately and I fear that they install malware on updating like Avast and Avira. They do that even if you have a paid account. Allthough it´s a risk I´ll leave the links since march online and shut off updating. I´ll take a printed copy of my software with me and maybe - through dropbox - will add an update to the last link, Network Animal. using someone else´s computer. On my "to do" list is still one last item : finding a handle to apply the warp effect to Julia and Manowar, they are the only Julia Type frms used. Just watch the last link. Albrecht
Paul W. Carlson has recently become somewhat active again concerning his fractals. He has created at least three recent web pages and has been posting to various Facebook groups. The following was taken from his pages and postings: In 1994, Mr. Carlson invented a fractal rendering method known as the Orbit Traps Method. The images on the following web page were created using FractInt formulas written by Carlson (and the FractInt program) that use these rendering methods. Click on any image to view the image in 800x600 resolution. This site has 30 fractal images that can be loaded into Fractint 19.6. http://www.paulwcarlson.com/Fractint%20Fractals/ Two other web pages he has put up recently: Mind-Boggling Fractals (MBF) http://www.paulwcarlson.com/MBF%20Fractals/ Distance Estimator (DEM) Fractals http://www.paulwcarlson.com/DEM%20Fractals/ And the web pages I have for two of his programs: http://www.Nahee.com/Software/MBF/ http://www.Nahee.com/Software/MBF/FraCurve.html Sincerely, P.N.L.
After reminiscing with Paul Carlson, about fractals and a few other things, I got to thinking about that "FractInt Contest" we held in the latter part of 1997. Jay R. Hill had kept track of the submissions, and created a few web pages to display them (and the various winners). But his site when down a long time ago, and I had moved it to my site for preservation: http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/Contest1997/CONTEST.html Went back and reviewed some of the old images that were submitted, and several are still quite good by today's 2-D fractal standards. Hard to believe that almost two decades have gone by since then. (We are getting so OLD!!!) :-( Sincerely, P.N.L.
"...visit the The Mysterious Comet, a short story with images inspired by the contest." on this page: http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/Contest1997/CONTEST.html (from Paul N. Lee's post below), is a 404, but was archived by the 'WayBack Machine' here: http://tinyurl.com/The-Mysterious-Comet-story or: http://web.archive.org/web/20080517211155/http://home.san.rr.com/jayrhill/St ory/Story.html I can't seem to make these addresses into links on my new computer. Not sure why you got that message, I just tried the link and it seems to be working fine. (I also hosted much of what Jay R. Hill had created on his website years ago: http://www.Nahee.com/JayRHill/ , including his "Fractal of the Night" [FotN] web pages.)
I can't seem to make these addresses into links on my new computer. Crazy!
What links ?? Later, P.N.L.
I posted a number of fractals here on the mail list using Paul Carlson's Orbit Trap Method. The posts had tips for using and modifying the formula. It was a few years ago but here are some links: http://www.fracton.org/fmlposts/astroid_mset_p1.html http://www.fracton.org/fmlposts/autumn_lilypads.html http://www.fracton.org/fmlposts/web_loops.html http://www.fracton.org/fmlposts/astroid_out.html My favorite one was this one: http://www.fracton.org/fmlposts/folium.html -- Mike Frazier www.fracton.org
Mike, I really enjoyed your: http://www.fracton.org/fmlposts/folium.html Whose great comments are those in its formula: yours or Paul Carlson's? I also really liked peeking in-between the moving features at the activity going on 'below' (at lower right) here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33642054/image/epicycloid.swf For viewing the above animation, be sure to reduce the vertical size of your browser window to get rid of the 'free' pixel replication's blockyness! - Hal Lane ######################## # hallane@earthlink.net ######################## -----Original Message-------------------------------------------------------------- From: Fractint [mailto:fractint-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Mike Frazier Sent: Thursday, April 2, 2015 12:24 PM To: Fractint and General Fractals Discussion Subject: Re: [Fractint] Paul W. I forwarded a copy of this email to Mr. Carlson, thought he would be interested in knowing how others have made use of his method. Have not gotten any comments from him yet concerning the images, but I am sure he appreciated seeing those web pages. :-) Sincerely, P.N.L.
