FOTD -- January 24, 2012 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: NEW FORMULA ALERT! Today's new formula, the MultiExpJul, is a Julia version of the MultiExp formula. It appears today on the list for the first time, so be sure to copy it into your active formula file. I dashed off the new formula when I started wondering what happens in the Julia sets (not to mention the other four planes) of the corrupted oversized Mandelbrot sets. Today's image is an example -- an oversized Julia set. Its Mandelbrot set is an oversized Mandelbrot set corrupted in its depths by order-11 stuff. The corresponding Mandelbrot point lies at the eastern extremity of the large minibrot on the main spike of the M-set. This minibrot is well on the way to being an order-11 one. I named the image "Julia on Strike" when I remembered how few Julia images I explore when compared to the Mandelbrot images. I can't help it. Mandelbrot sets are simply more varied. I rated the image at an 8, perhaps a bit liberally, but it really is a rather interesting, if not superbly colored scene. The calculation time is a lightning fast 13 seconds, which will pass almost faster than the speed of light.
