If I knew that, every FOTD would rate a 10+. The most likely answer would be knowledge and familiarity. I spend at least an hour a day exploring the worlds of fractals. Luck also plays a part. And we must not forget intuition, whatever that is. Sometimes I simply get a feeling that a good fractal lies hidden in a certain location, and sometimes I am right. And of course, not all FOTD images are good. FOTD for Mar 2 in an hour or two. Jim M.
