FOTD 16-04-05 (In a Remote Valley [5])
FOTD -- April 16, 2005 (Rating 5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Since discovering how fast the P4-2300 machine is with the type=mandel fractals, I have become fascinated with the formerly impractical areas of the Mandelbrot set. Today's image shows a tiny atom deep in a remote valley off the bud beyond the largest bud on the negative real axis, a valley which most likely has never before been investigated. The name "In a Remote Valley" simply describes the location of the image. The 2-1/2 hour render time is true on the P200 machine. On the P4-2300 unit, the image calculates in 8-1/2 minutes. It downloads from the FOTD web site in even less time. The web site may be accessed at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> The perfect weather continues here at Fractal Central. The cats continue happy and the fractals, though not great, keep coming. The next fractal will appear in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and run with fractals. Greetings, Well, this week marked not only the beginning of another set of FOTD images and postings by Jim Muth, but also the end of eight full years worth of FOTDs (with hopefully many more to come). And as to the top five months and days which have been accessed the most (according to the page counters): Months: ------- January, 1999 -- 4,928 hits http://home.att.net/~paul.n.lee/FotD/FotD_99-01.html April, 1999 -- 4,203 hits http://home.att.net/~paul.n.lee/FotD/FotD_99-04.html May, 1999 -- 4,166 hits http://home.att.net/~paul.n.lee/FotD/FotD_99-05.html December, 2001 -- 4,120 hits http://home.att.net/~paul.n.lee/FotD/FotD_01-12.html May, 2001 -- 4,087 hits http://home.att.net/~paul.n.lee/FotD/FotD_01-05.html Days: ----- April 12, 1997 -- 12,379 hits http://home.att.net/~fractals_1/FotD_97-04-12.html May 31, 2001 -- 2,609 hits http://home.att.net/~fractals_2/FotD_01-05-31.html November 10, 1999 -- 2,259 hits http://home.att.net/~fractals_1/FotD_99-11-10.html May 26, 2000 -- 1,565 hits http://home.att.net/~fractals_2/FotD_00-05-26.html August 30, 2000 -- 1,409 hits http://home.att.net/~fractals_2/FotD_00-08-30.html Sincerely, P.N.L. ------------------------------------------------- http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/PNL_Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/
Anyone interested in downloading just the PAR file collections (8 volumes, around 2,500 images, plus all the formulas) can get them from my (rather out of date) site at: http://www.les.stclair.btinternet.co.uk/fractals/pars.htm Special thanks to Roger Kaufman for compiling these. cheers, Les St Clair
