FOTD -- November 19, 2009 (Rating 5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is named "Error in Sight", which pretty much says all there is to be said about the image. For some reason, when I brought up the MandAutoCritInZ formula, I set the function to cosine instead of the intended reciprocal. I noticed the error at once when the resulting parent fractals, (there are a multi- tude of them), looked a little too good to be true. But right or wrong, at least one of the fractals demanded further investi- gation. A hasty search yielded today's image, which owes its effect to the 'outside' parts, which I rendered with the 'tdis' option in effect. With more time, I might have made more of this image, but as things went I had to settle for the image as it is. The rating of a 5 is average in every respect. I have posted several similar images over the life of the FOTD. The calcula- tion time of 1-1/4 minutes is reasonably fast. And if all else fails, the finished image is posted on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> where it may be viewed without the hassle of calculating it. Ample sun and a temperature of 57F 14C made for contented cats here at Fractal Central on Wednesday. More work than could be comfortably handled in one day made the conditions less than contented for FL and myself. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.
