FOTD 15-06-07 (Fantasy Filaments [4])
FOTD -- June 15, 2007 (Rating 4) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today we calculate the Z^(1.5)+C Mandeloid 95 levels down the logarithmic ladder and check the resulting fractal in the area of one of the minor buds on the northeast shoreline of what passes for a main bay. We soon find a midget lurking in the vicinity. The midget has little to recommend it, being little more than an irregular hole surrounded by zig-zagging bits and pieces of filaments. But we need a fractal in a hurry, so we volunteer the midget to step forward and accept the honor of being declared FOTD for June 15. The midget grudgingly accepts. Since the filaments are the most striking features of the image, I named it "Fantasy Filaments" and decided on a rating of a 4. A fractal that is found almost automatically can hardly be considered above average. Perhaps the best feature of the image is its speed. It calculates in just one minute on the P2000 machine. It would take around 6 minutes on the P200. The pre-calculated GIF image is available on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> A cloudy morning here at Fractal Central on Thursday was followed by a partly sunny afternoon with a high temperature of 68F 20C. For me a rushed morning was followed by an afternoon only slightly less rushed. The fractal cats managed to stay inconspicuous during most of the day. The next FOTD will hopefully appear in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and remember that the best is always yet to come. Should the rating depend solely on appearance, and not how much work was put into it? Just a thought. Keep up the good work - it is much appreciated! John -- John Lewis, jlewis@clara.net on 15/06/2007
