FOTD -- August 17, 2010 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image has a bluish, creepy-crawlie tentacled blob in the middle. And the creepy is surrounded by other smaller creepies. I had almost no choice but to name it "Creepy Crawlie". Actually, the image was created by the 'manowarj' formula, one I very rarely turn to. An equally unlikely aspect is the use of the 'invert' feature, another one I very rarely even try out. A good part of the image consists of 'inside' stuff made visible by the 'fmod' feature, a feature I sometimes make good use of. But all these things together created an image that rates a 6, so I let it go as the FOTD for August 17. If the colors had not been so wildly gaudy, I might have rated it higher. Actually, those who enjoy fractals that over-stimulate the optic nerve may consider the image worth a 7 or 8. With a running time of under 33 seconds, calculating the image will waste little time that might have been put to better use elsewhere. An equally good way to save time is to view the finished image on the FOTD web site at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> Another warm and muggy day passed unappreciated here at Fractal Central on Monday. When the temperature reached 90F 32C, the fractal cats glued themselves to the cool floor and didn't get up until hunger got the better of them. Meanwhile, my day was comfortably uneventful. The next FOTD will be posted in glori- ous full color in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and show your care. Give a handout to a homeless fractal.
