FOTD -- May 03, 2010 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's steel-blue image is rated at an 8 and named "Halfway There". The name refers to the minibrot at the center, which is of the '3-1/2' variety, and 3-1/2 is halfway between 3 and 4. The parent fractal resembles two Mandelbrot sets partially over- lapping in a north-south direction. Today's image is located just off the positive X-axis in a very tiny valley in a tiny bud at the eastern extremity of the parent fractal. The magnitude of over 8*(10^13) stretches the conventional math routine a bit, but the resolution breakdown is barely noticeable. Sunday here at Fractal Central featured heavy clouds and occa- sional sprinkles of rain. The high humidity and temperature of 82 28C made it feel like midsummer and made the fractal cats feel like stretching out on the living room rug. My day was peaceful enough despite a philosophical discussion with FL in the afternoon about the world's over-population problem. There will be no problem however preparing the FOTD for May 4. It is already in the bag, and will be set free in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and the solution to the over-population problem is to eliminate the excess population now infesting the surface.
