Re: [Who's out there? - Keith]
Hi list,
Damien put this one on the UF list so I thought I would join. Who's out there? or is that a bad question?
Keith
Keith, I'm not too sure, but I have a vague impression that some of the members of the Philofractal list serve are from the DOS era when the free Fractint fractal image drawing program was a real technological advance for the slow machines and integer only CPUs available back then. I believe that we have a number of 'active' members and quite a few 'lurkers'. The program Fractint is a DOS program and is still under development. The Windows version of Fractint is farther behind in capability. A good place to get info about Fractint and a copy of the program is from: http://spanky.triumf.ca/www/fractint/fractint.html There is a developer's site: http://www.fractint.org/ where you can get betas of new versions of Fractint. The latest is: fract20.04p04.zip which I believe most people are using and seems to be quite stable. Jim Muth posts a new fractal just about every day in his 'Fractal of the Day' series. I will send this email to you, the [Philofractal] list serve and the [Fractint] list serve to see if anyone cares to agree or disagree with me or add any comments. Oh, btw, there is also a Fractint list serve that stays on the topic of the Fractint program a little more often than [Philofractal].
