FOTD -- March 11, 2014 (Rating A-8.5,M-5) The next FOTD will be posted shortly. Until shortly arrives, take care, and I see that the second "Cosmos" series has hit the TV after a wait of over 30 years. I wonder if it will be just another plug for rationalism and the scientific method. What a crying shame! "Cosmos a Spacetime Odyssey", Part 1, shown today on my local National Geographic TV channel. I've been eagerly awaiting this event, anticipating an extension and new interpretation of Carl Sagan's original, (which I still have, as a boxed set of VHS tapes). What did I see? A poor copy of Sagan's themes, an uninspired monologue by Neil deGrasse Tyson and manga-style cartoon characters. I almost wept! And the music. What happened to the producers of this lack-luster creation, including Ann Druyan? Sagan's masterpiece was replete with some of the most inspirational and evocative pieces of music then available... played by masters. I found the musical background of this poor follow-up was a droning annoyance. John W.
