The Old Post-Processing Fractal Art Discussion
Greetings, Over the past few days, there have been some interesting conversations on the "Orbit Trap" blog <http://orbittrap.blogspot.com/>, with such topics as: Take It to the Limitations -- Terry Wright (July 01, 2007) The Myth of the Post-Processing Bias -- Damien Jones (June 28, 2007) A Dream of Post Post-Processing -- Terry Wright (June 26, 2007) Why I don't use Ultra Fractal -- Tim Hodkinson (June 23, 2007) Whether one agrees or disagrees has been an issue amongst those creating fractal images for many years now. A recent article posted today on TheTimeNews website is all about Tom Conally and is entitled: "Fractal fanatic: computer, imagination combine for interesting art" http://www.thetimesnews.com/articles/art_3634___article.html/conally_fractal... The exhibit is now on display and will hang through July in the Isabella Cannon Room at Elon University. Though he still uses FractInt to create most of his pieces. He did give the following quote: “I would advise (anyone interested in making fractal art) to get a Windows program because the FracTint program is so old,” he said. “I’ve learned all the commands, so I know it. But in this day and time, most people don’t know the DOS operating system, so they’d have a very hard time operating that.” Just goes to show there are still many doing art using FractInt, but many more could be if there were a good working GUI version for today's varied operating systems.
