This sounds derogatory. Is that what you meant?
To begin, I mentioned no program and no author, though the program to which I was referring was obvious, and I did comment that the program in question was a fine program. I did not state that the Fractint code had been stolen, though I did comment that some of it it might have supplied ideas, and in that way, have appeared in modified form in the other program. Finally, by my 'I'm an artist' comment, I implied that IMO it takes more than knowing how to use a computer program to be considered an artist. The word 'artist' implies creativity and originality. It does not imply doing the same things that the rest of the crowd is doing. Such people are better considered skilled craftsmen, which is what I consider myself. If you find this derogatory, I'm sorry. Jim M.

In the headers of which were the lines:
List-Help: <mailto:fractint-request@mailman.xmission.com?subject=help> List-Post: <mailto:fractint@mailman.xmission.com> List-Subscribe: <http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint>, <mailto:fractint-request@mailman.xmission.com?subject=subscribe> List-Id: Fractint and General Fractals Discussion <fractint.mailman.xmission.com> List-Unsubscribe: <http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint>, <mailto:fractint-request@mailman.xmission.com?subject=unsubscribe> List-Archive: <http://mailman.xmission.com/pipermail/fractint/>
Please be aware that all recipients don't get the headers shown below. (I don't) Also, they may not know how to pull them out from where they're hidden or where to go to get that information. Well okay, but a REAL email client would make them available and not hide them :). Morgan L. Owens "And I guess if you don't have an http client either, the .sig block wouldn't be much help:"
Thanks for all input gang. Part of my rather dislectic e-mail was a request for the type of "commands" that one could send the listserve to have the listserve "Bot" sent back archived files. Other listserv "bots" like majordomo respond to commands like: get fractint files january99.zip or list fractint files etc..... Does the fractint listserv "bot" support such commands? I think this particular maillist app uses the subject line. Let's see what "help" gets us: mailto:fractint-request@mailman.xmission.com?subject=help It comes back with:
***** help Help for Fractint mailing list:
This is email command help for version 2.0.11 of the "Mailman" list manager. The following describes commands you can send to get information about and control your subscription to Mailman lists at this site. A command can be in the subject line or in the body of the message.
Note that much of the following can also be accomplished via the World Wide Web, at:
http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint
In particular, you can use the Web site to have your password sent to your delivery address.
List specific commands (subscribe, who, etc) should be sent to the *-request address for the particular list, e.g. for the 'mailman' list, use 'mailman-request@...'.
About the descriptions - words in "<>"s signify REQUIRED items and words in "[]" denote OPTIONAL items. Do not include the "<>"s or "[]"s when you use the commands.
The following commands are valid:
subscribe [password] [digest-option] [address=<address>] Subscribe to the mailing list. Your password must be given to unsubscribe or change your options. When you subscribe to the list, you'll be reminded of your password periodically. 'digest-option' may be either: 'nodigest' or 'digest' (no quotes!) If you wish to subscribe an address other than the address you send this request from, you may specify "address=<email address>" (no brackets around the email address, no quotes!)
unsubscribe <password> [address] Unsubscribe from the mailing list. Your password must match the one you gave when you subscribed. If you are trying to unsubscribe from a different address than the one you subscribed from, you may specify it in the 'address' field.

help This message.
set <option> <on|off> <password> Turn on or off list options. Valid options are:
ack: Turn this on to receive acknowledgement mail when you send mail to the list.
digest: Receive mail from the list bundled together instead of one post at a time.
plain: Get plain-text, not MIME-compliant, digests (only if digest is set)
nomail: Stop delivering mail. Useful if you plan on taking a short vacation.
norcv: Turn this on to NOT receive posts you send to the list. Does not work if digest is set.
hide: Conceals your address when people look at who is on this list.
options Show the current values of your list options.
password <oldpassword> <newpassword> Change your list password.
end or -- Stop processing commands (good to do if your mailer automatically adds a signature file - it'll save you from a lot of cruft).
Commands should be sent to fractint-request@mailman.xmission.com
