FOTD -- November 11, 2007 (No Rating) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: I named today's image "Evaporated Fantasy" because it is an evaporated image and a rather fantastic one at that. Of course, fractals are fantastic by nature. At least, I have never seen one walking down the street. The parent of today's image subtracts 1.7 parts of Z^(0.75) from 1.7 parts of Z^(-1.25), then adds straight C. This parent resembles a large circular bay filled with curious debris dotted with mandel-buds and valleys. Today's scene is located in a blunt valley in this debris. Yes, I have noticed that the formula contains a positive exponent of Z, and only fractals with all negative exponents are supposed to 'evaporate' when the bailout radius is raised to one-googol, but apparently today's fractal has not heard this, and evaporates quite effectively. After trying unsuccessfully to find a satisfactory rating for the image, I decided not to rate it at all. But it's a rather pleasant image, well worth the minute or so required to run the included parameter file. And even running the file may be avoided by visiting the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and viewing the finished image there. Cold dark clouds prevailed here at Fractal Central on Saturday. With the temperature hovering around 41F 5C, and a chilly wind blowing, the fractal cats sought the warmest places they could find, while I sought the day's fractal. The next FOTD is due in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and perhaps fractals would never have existed if we had never started creating them.
