FOTD -- June 11, 2010 (Rating 4) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: A late FOTD usually means a busy day, and so it was here at FC on Thursday. We have another merely average FOTD fractal. How humiliating! But nobody is perfect, and with no time to find a good fractal, today's image is the best I could do. Basically, the image is a smoothly-colored spiral with most of the frills left out. Perhaps the most interesting part is the series of similarly-shaped holes along the spiral arms. The parent fractal is little more than a large area of chaos, with the remains of one large Mandelbrot set, and minibrots of various shapes and sizes scattered throughout. Today's scene is located in the remains of the East Valley of the large M-set. I rated the image at a 4 and named it "Smooth Nothings". The calculation time of 1-1/3 minutes is brief enough to cause no one to be impatient. The trip to view the finished image at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> is far less work. After Wednesday's all-day rain, near perfect weather prevailed here at Fractal Central on Thursday, with partly cloudy skies, low humidity, and a temperature of 84F 29C. The fractal cats sincerely approved all of this. My day was very busy, but otherwise pretty good. The one annoyance was a wet spot that I noticed on the third floor ceiling when I went up there to find some old files. I guess the FC roof needs work. I'll put it on the list of things to be done.
