FOTD 20-08-12 (Polite Breakdown [No Rating])
FOTD -- August 20, 2012 (No Rating) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image might or might not be a fractal. It's all in the opinion of the beholder. The image is actually a scene in one of the spiral patches of yesterday's image, but what we see is not a legitimate fractal, it is an image created at a magnitude of almost 10^14, which is beyond the range of resolution of the Fractint math routine. This presents difficulties in calculating today's image with programs other than Fractint. The resolution breakdown, which creates the venitian-blinds effect, is particular to the Fractint math routine, and if the parameter file is run under other programs, a different image will result. A program using a routine with a greater resolution limit will produce an image with full resolution, which will be a more accurate image for sure, but will miss the particular distortion that is featured in today's image. I chose today's imperfect image to be the FOTD because I have never seen such a curious math breakdown before this. Since the image is artificial, I could not give it a rating, but this does not mean it is totally worthless. The calculation time of 2-2/3 minutes is admittedly slow. The web sites will eliminate most of the wait however. To view the finished image without the wait, check it on the official FOTD web site at: <http://www.crosscanpuzzles.com/Archives.html> Enjoy the rendering in hi-def at: <http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/jim_muths_fotd.html> And don't forget the back FOTD's at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> A temperature of 68F 20C accompanied by clouds and rain showers left today with much to be desired here at Fractal Central. The fractal cats checked the outside conditions once, then found more important things to concern themselves with. The big event in the human department was a friendly discussion about the so-called 'war on women', FL and I taking opposing sides. Provided a victory is achieved, the next FOTD will be posted soon, with the usual omission of a guarantee of promptness. Until whenever, take care, and let's stop protesting about a thousand minor injustices and organize a protest against the greatest injustice of all -- human mortality.
