FOTD 01-10-09 (Basic and Basicer [6])
FOTD -- October 01, 2009 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is another hurried one, but still worth a look. It's a quintic Minibrot lying on the unusually ragged east shore of the large north bud of its parent fractal, which is a near- Mandelbrot set about 5 times the normal size. About the only thing going for the image is the ring of 25 red- yellow highlights surrounding the four-lobed minibrot. These mostly-accidental highlights earned the rating of a 6. The name "Basic and Basicer" makes about as much sense as spending over an hour every day searching for fractals and writing about them. Actually, the name is also the names of the Fractint formula files I use most often. In keeping with a hurried day, the included parameter file runs in a lightning fast 53 seconds, so no time will be wasted doing something for nothing. But why not do something for something and hurry out to the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> to view the finished image there. Tuesday was cloudy and blustery here at Fractal Central. Wednesday was only slightly less blustery, with a temperature of 61F 16C. The fractal cats disapproved of both days. In my department both days were busy. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours, give or take a few. Until then, take care, and be a fractal whisperer.
