Problems with '3D's after equals signs
Why have all the equals signs in my posts to fractint@mailman.xmission.com had the characters '3D' inserted after them? How can I keep this from happening? I note that other posters to fractint@mailman.xmission.com do not have this problem. I have not had other people that I correspond with say that they have had trouble with this problem although an equals sign is not often used in correspondence. I use Robin Bussell's excellent freeware "Fractint paste and go utility" to remove the '3D's after equals signs with the single push of a button when I find them in a par file: http://web.ukonline.co.uk/robin.b2/pastengo.htm Robin's small (15k) utility (V1.3) uses the Microsoft visual basic runtime DLL which he also makes available if you do not already have it on your system. Paste N Go makes using parameter and formula files with Fractint extremely easy. I avoided using parameter and formula files with Fractint for a long time. Now that I have discovered Paste N Go I use them quite often. I use Compuserve 4.0.2 under Win98 original version for my email. If anyone knows how to avoid creating '3D's after equals signs during posts I would really like to know. I do not enjoy creating problems for other people. - Hal Lane

I believe it is called "quoted-printable" text, and it replaces some characters with =xx (where xx is a hex value of the char being represented). It also force-wraps lines at some column width (72 or something like that). If you can turn off "quoted-printable" in your email/news software, that might do the trick. (I think MS Outlook is especially prone to default to "quoted-printable" outout.) -- |_ CJSonnack <Chris@Sonnack.com> _____________| How's my programming? | |_ http://www.Sonnack.com/ ___________________| Call: 1-800-DEV-NULL | |_____________________________________________|_______________________|
