FOTD 17-01-10 (Side by Side [?])
FOTD -- January 17, 2010 (Rating ?) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: In yesterday's FOTD we saw two minibrots lined up one behind the other. Today's image shows two minibrots standing side by side and surrounded by a rich field of smaller minibrots. Today's image is located in the infinitely-divided debris along the negative X-axis of the Z^(2.003)+C Mandeloid, which happens to be the same Mandeloid that holds the mysterious rectangle which has appeared in various disguises in quite a few FOTD images. Though the image appears fairly unbroken, it is filled with discontinuities, the most obvious of which slices off the large southern bud of the minibrot on the right. The name "Side-by-Side" does not refer to a piece of Victorian furniture. It is a description of the image itself. The rating of a question mark indicates that I was not sure the image is worth a rating at all. But the calculation time of just over one mere minute is sheer joy. It means that no one will suffer dis-satisfaction if the congregation of minibrots fails to bring instant gratification. The instant gratification will be found on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> where the already-calculated image is posted. The FOTD discussion for January 16 originally contained a long philosophical screed about God and disasters, but before posting it I counted to 38, decided it had nothing to do with fractals, and struck the delete key. The full discussion is filed safely away in my FOTD files however. If I find myself in a suitably negative mood sometime in the future, I'll insert it in a future FOTD. The glorious Saturday weather here at Fractal central was quite unexpected. Though clouds and a high of 41F +5C were forecast, the day turned out sunny with a high of 52F 11C. The fractal cats had no complaints about the forecasters' mistake. My day was averagely uneventful. The next FOTD, likely another display of sociable minibrots, will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and we do care.
