FOTD -- December 08, 2005 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: In yesterday's discussion I told the tale of a fractal, which in itself is nothing unusual. In that tale I told of a small part of a second fractal showing through the main fractal, and I commented that the second fractal was not critical. In today's image we inspect the area where interesting parts of the main fractal and the second fractal, the ghost fractal, overlap. I have named the image "Son of the Fractal", since it is a sequel to the original fractal that appeared yesterday. I have used virtually the same color palette as was used in yesterday's image, making only a few insignificant changes in the area of the central midget. The image rates a 6, at least in my opinion. The pattern around the midget combines Mandel and Julia elements in an arrangement pleasing enough to be worth the slightly above average rating. The render time of 9 plus minutes is still fast enough to avoid boredom. Tomorrow's FOTD will feature still another venture into its depths. And after that . . . who knows . . . The celestial sun was in evidence here at Fractal Central on Wednesday, but the temperature barely reached freezing, which made things far too chilly for the sensitive ears and noses of the fractal cats. They were out only a few minutes before the chill got to them and they asked to come inside where it was warm. My day was notably average. The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.
